Tame Cat Adoptions

Make pet adoption your first option!

We have tame cats available for adoption to lifelong indoor-only homes. Our cats are delivered to their new owner to ensure they are going to a good home.

Dane County Friends of Ferals does not allow our cats and kittens to be declawed. We would be happy to talk to you about alternatives to declawing, such as gel caps, scratching posts and behavior modification. Read more about the problems caused by declawing and solutions to scratching problems.  Occasionally, we have several cats who are already declawed come into our rescue.  You can check with the Tame Adoption Coordinator or do a search on the website.

If you rent, please review your apartment's pet policy before you fill out the adoption application. Some landlords have restrictions on cats with claws, number or age of pets, require pet deposits and monthly fees, or do not allow pets at all. Some landlords can be convinced to allow you to use the nail caps (Soft Paws or Soft Claws) instead of requiring that the cat be declawed. So it is best to have that information on hand before you apply for a cat. Here is a list of pet friendly apartments from the Dane Co Humane Society.

Email or call 608-467-4067 and select #2 to arrange a visit with the cats!

Submit the Tame Cat Adoption Application Online!

If you have filled out an adoption application but have not heard back from us in 3 days, please email or call 467-4067 #2. We check our email/voice mail several times a day and will get back to you promptly.

If you are adopting a cat from Mounds please note that we honor Mounds' prices:

  • $200 for a pair of kittens

  • $20 for a senior cat, 6 years and older
  • $145 for an adult cat and a kitten

Our adoption fees are a real bargain considering the amount of care and treatment our cats receive before being adopted. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, treated for worms (if needed) and tested for Feline Leukemia (FeLV).  Cats six months and older are also tested for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Additional donations are very much appreciated.
