Make pet adoption your first option!
We have tame cats available for adoption to lifelong indoor-only homes.
Dane County Friends of Ferals does not allow our cats and kittens to be declawed. We would be happy to talk to you about alternatives to declawing, such as gel caps, scratching posts and behavior modification. Read more about the problems caused by declawing and solutions to scratching problems. Occasionally, we have several cats who are already declawed come into our rescue. You can check with the Tame Adoption Coordinator or do a search on the website.
If you rent, please review your apartment’s pet policy before you fill out the adoption application. Some landlords have restrictions on cats with claws, number or age of pets, require pet deposits and monthly fees, or do not allow pets at all. So it is best to have that information on hand before you apply for a cat. Here is a list of pet friendly apartments from the Dane County Humane Society.
Email email@example.com to arrange a visit with the cats!

Our adoption fees are low considering the amount of care and treatment our cats receive before being adopted. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, treated for worms (if needed) and tested for Feline Leukemia (FeLV). Additional donations are very much appreciated. (Please note that our fosters and adoption fair staff do not have change. Please consider rounding up to donate to our organization, or bringing exact change or check. Thank you!)
Cats found on this page are cats who are owned by community members and are not part of the Dane County Friends of Ferals program. We assume no responsibility in the process and are simply helping to advertise cats available for a new home. Please contact the owners directly at the link provided.
My name is Walter Bishop
I’m an extremely handsome, solid black, 5 yr old Domestic short hair cat, I have all my claws and I’m up to date on all my vaccines.
I love to cuddle on the couch, I have a fabulously loud purr that can be heard across the room. I love scratches on my head and my chin and neck. Sunbathing is an ultimate treat for me and sitting on my cat perch watching out the window is one my favorite past times. Playing includes a random string, a cat-nip filled little mouse(I can even play fetch) and even though I’m a big boy(13.8lbs) I can jump like nobody’s business, I would love it if you interact with me to help keep me from boredom, but I do like my alone time too.
I have lived with a dog and my owner believes it be best if I were the only cat in the house, she is looking for a new loving forever home where someone may have had a cat in the pasts and will know how to treat a handsome guy like me.
