Dane County Friends of Ferals is a group of dedicated volunteers committed to creating a better future for feral cats. Our mission is to establish a no-kill standard and to promote the value and well-being of Dane County's feral cats. We are Dane County's primary resource for feral cat questions and assistance.
What is a feral cat?

OUTDOOR RURAL HOMES NEEDED These cats are healthy, neutered/spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and tested for Feline Leukemia Virus and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. All we ask is that you provide food, water and shelter for these cats every day. We will deliver them to your door for only $10 per cat.
We are desperately seeking fosters for our special needs cats! Please contact our Foster Coordinator to find out how you can be a foster parent for a cat in need of love and attention. For more information check out our foster handbook.
Learn more about our our LOW COST spayathons! We cannot accept walk-ins at our spayathons. All cats must have an appointment. Please call 608-577-1500.
At the 24 Hour Spayathon on April 9-10, 2010 one hundred and forty-eight cats underwent spay/neuter surgery and received their rabies and distemper shots.
One cat gave birth to a litter of kittens while in our waiting room. Mom and babies are now being lovingly cared for by one of our foster caregivers. Many of the cats were very sick with skin issues, upper respiratory infections, ticks, fleas, an ear hematoma and several cats had bad teeth.
We want to recognize all the volunteers who made the spayathon a success, especially those who worked the entire 24 hours without a break!!
A salute goes out to Bethany Darling of Oregon who arranged to bring in 47 cats, most of whom were females who have been waiting years or months to get spayed. In Bethany’s words, “Darling Pet Rescue was born about 7 years ago in response to a need I saw for homeless or needy pets in general who may or may not be easily adoptable in shelter situations. My focus is mainly on cats, and I do a lot of re-homing and stray placement. I also occasionally take special needs animals that just need to find the right home. I run the rescue out of my home and do the majority of the fostering here. I also have done a lot of TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) on my own in the areas I've lived and have been happy to see a decrease in free-roaming cat populations in those areas. My idea is that the right home exists for every pet, which could be an indoor home, an outdoor home, a sanctuary, or a TNR situation. Cats are all so different with histories that help me to determine what their best outcome will be. I currently have five adult cats, five kittens and one dog in foster care.”
Special thanks to Dr. Sheldon and Madison Area Technical College’s cooperation in our effort to reduce the number of unwanted litters in Dane Co. and surrounding areas
